Auction rules
A bid on IronHead™is a binding offer to buy. By checking the "auction rules" acknowledgement on the listing page you confirm that you understand what your bid does and what happens after the hammer falls.
Effective 2026-08-26Read alongside the buyer disclosures·refunds & cancellations1A bid is an offer
When you click "Place bid," your bid is recorded as a binding offer to purchase the listing at the bid amount. No buyer charge or Stripe checkout occurs at bid time. Your offer becomes a contract if the auction closes with your bid as the highest qualifying bid.
You cannot retract a bid placed in good faith during an active auction. The right to retract that exists on some auction formats does not exist here. Typing the wrong number is your risk; bid carefully.
2Hammer-fall and soft-close
When the auction clock reaches zero with a bid at or above the seller's reserve, the auction closes and the highest qualifying buyer wins. IronHead enforces a one-minute soft-close window: any bid placed in the trailing minute extends the clock by 60 seconds. The extension is automatic; a bid placed at 0:07 remaining gives every competitor a fair chance to respond.
The platform does not guarantee that a late bid will appear on the page before the clock expires; network latency can introduce a sub-second window where a bid-not-yet-painted is at risk. We extend the clock for every late bid that lands inside the soft-close window regardless of paint state. Bids placed after the clock has formally closed (the "snipe after close" class) are not accepted.
3Reserve and minimum bids
The seller may set a hidden reserve. Bids must clear the reserve for the listing to be eligible to sell. A listing without a reserve sells to the highest bidder when the clock runs out. The minimum next bid is the previous qualifying bid plus the listing's bid increment, or the reserve floor if the listing is unwon and reserved.
4Settlement window
When the auction closes with your bid winning, you enter a settlement window. The settlement reference is your winning bid plus any applicable buyer premium shown on the listing. IronHead does not collect buyer sale funds through the auction flow; after a win, IronHead coordinates the buyer and seller manually and records confirmation only when an administrator has completed that coordination.
Failure to cooperate with the manual settlement and delivery process inside the stated window is treated as a buyer default. The default mechanic, the fee exposure, and the platform's escalation steps are on the refunds & cancellations page.
5Payment default and chargebacks
If a winning buyer does not complete the manual settlement and delivery coordination, the listing may be re-offered to the runner-up bidder or returned to the seller. Because the auction flow does not collect buyer sale funds, there is no auction payment authorization or chargeback to reverse; use the disputes process for transaction concerns. See Section 5 of the refunds & cancellations page for the consequences.
The platform is not a party to the buyer/seller transaction beyond coordinating the marketplace handoff and manual settlement. No buyer sale funds are held in escrow or represented as received. Distribution of loss between the buyer, the seller, and the platform on default is described on the dispute resolution page and is not a fixed remission schedule.
6Vehicle condition and as-is
IronHead™ auctions include complete motorcycles, partial motorcycles, and individual parts lots. Every lot is sold as-is, with no warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose and no reliance on any platform-side statement about condition beyond what the seller wrote in the listing. Mileage readings are seller-reported and not independently verified by the platform; the platform does not warrant mileage accuracy.
The full scope of what as-is means in this context, and the disclosures that a buyer acknowledges before bidding, are on the buyer disclosures page.
7Disputes
If you and the seller cannot agree on the condition, delivery, or title transfer, the dispute resolution page walks through the stepped ticket → mediation → optional arbitration process. Filing a chargeback instead of using that process forfeits entitlement to platform mediation.
8Liability cap
The platform's total aggregate liability arising from a single auction transaction is capped at the dollar amount of the buyer's premium on that transaction, except where non-excludable remedies apply in the buyer's jurisdiction. The platform is not liable for loss of use, mechanical damage after delivery, shipping damage, or consequential damages arising from the buyer's restoration or riding of the motorcycle.
